Animation in Game Design

Animation is a absolute HUGE part of making a game, without it there wouldn’t be any way to see the game. From the landscaping all the way to the design of your character, it’s everywhere in games you can’t get away from it. The texture of the landscaping in a game is a long tedious process in animation and it can affect the whole experience of a game. In a movie you get to pick and choose what the viewer gets to see and what you want them to see, but in a game the player has full control over everything so you have to make sure that everything looks good from every possible angle. Animation has many career paths that you can choose from but overall game design is the most heavily dependent on animation, having to animate everything at its best at every possible angle.

The design of the game sets the mood for the rest of the game, for instance if you are making a horror game you aren’t going to want bright lights everywhere with no scare factor. Games couldn’t exist without animation, it doesn’t have to be very intense visuals for it to be classified as animation. Animation works inside of games because of single images called sprites being overlapped on each other at a time. These sprites are what your character does when its idle to whatever its running animation it is. Animation is a huge part of game design without it you wouldn’t have a game to begin with.

  1. Make sure to proofread before publishing. I wish that you would have addressed the necessary steps to have a career in game development as an animator. Overall, good job though.
